Anneo Biotech is coming under the roof of  “The Sunshine General Trading Group of companies has been promoted by Mr K Jagannathan, a post-graduate from Thirukoilur, a town in Tamil Nadu, India. While continuing with his family’s traditional activity of agriculture, he commenced bus services in 1952 linking the towns and villages in his area and then diversified into construction and manufacturing operations in 1982. His sons Mr J Balaji, a Chemical Engineering graduate, and Mr J Srinivasan, a post-graduate in Commerce, have carried on the fine traditions of their father, expanding the Sunshine Group of companies in varied business areas during the past 25 years. They are now managing the activities of the Sunshine Group of companies under the able guidance of their father.

The areas of operation of the group companies have also expanded, from the operation of bus services to manufacture of chemicals, mining / manufacturing of rough / finished granite and  exports and manufacture of bulk drugs (import and export of commodities), running of an engineering college and development of real estate & construction. The Group’s Corporate Office is located in Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, on the east coast of India. It is a business-friendly city well-endowed with the necessary infrastructure and human resources. It is well connected by air, sea, rail and road within India and internationally.

Brief details about the Sunshine Group of companies and organisations are presented below.

Dhanalakshmi Roadways is the first business venture of the Sunshine Group. It is based in Thirukoilur, Tamil Nadu and operates a fleet of buses in the Northern Districts of Tamil Nadu connecting the important towns and the villages in between.

Venkatnarayana Metals & Realtors Limited (VMRL) is a manufacturer of TMT rods used in the construction industry. It is located 70 Km to the west of Chennai, adjoining the Chennai – Bengaluru National Highway. It has a capacity to manufacture 200 t/day of rods ranging from 8 to 32 mm in diameter. It also proposes to implement a project for the manufacture of billets as a backward integration measure.

The realty arm of VMRL has completed major projects like

• DLF Garden City apartment project, located off OMR, spread over 53 acres and comprising about 3000 apartments, constructed on the lands developed and given by VMRL.
• VMRL has consolidated and sold about 200 acres of lands for DLF near Sriperumbudur for their multi-use developments.
• VMRL has constructed 2.00 lakh sq.ft. building for the engineering college run by the Group.  
• Construction of School building run by the Group.

Hotel Breeze Residency promoted by Jennys Hotel Pvt. Ltd. is a well established      4-Star hotel located in the heart of Trichy, one of the main cities of Tamil Nadu. It offers 91 air conditioned rooms, 4 banquet halls and other facilities like bar, 24 h service, swimming pool, gym and health club to its guests.

Balaji Institute of Engineering & Technology was established in 2008 in Thandalam Village, 40 Km to the south of Chennai in the IT zone, as per the norms of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), for providing undergraduate engineering education in the areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology.  It has introduced Civil Engineering and MBA from the academic year 2009-10. The college is managed by Sri Venkateshwara Charitable and Educational Trust formed by Mr K Jagannathan and his family. It has now been proposed to establish a school with the most modern infrastructure to provide education to international standards.

Padmavathy Realty and Promoters Private Limited (PRPPL) is the real estate arm of the group. This company has been formed to develop the lands belonging to the promoters of the Sunshine Group, located along the IT Highway linking Chennai and Mahabalipuram in the south and in areas adjoining Chennai – Bengaluru National Highway into residential layouts and market the same to its potential high net-worth customers working in the IT and other companies in those areas.

• It has already developed three residential layouts, namely, Srinivasa Nagar and Balaji Nagar over an extent of 40 acres with all the necessary government approvals and sold all the plots within a short period of three months. It has further developed layouts, namely, Jagannath Meadows-II and Jagannath Meadows Extension over an area of 10 acres with all facilities.
• It has also completed a high end Villa Project named as Jagannath Meadows off OMR, Thalambur, offering modern independent houses with the best architectural elevation and best interiors to suit international standards.
• It has completed successfullya residential apartment complex named Jagannath Orchid with all the modern amenities and a well laid out garden. It has 180 apartments located adjoining the IT Highway to the south of Chennai on the way to Mahabalipuram, an international tourist resort. 

Jagannath Vidyalaya was established in 2011 in Thaiyur near Kelambakkam, 40 Km to the south of Chennai in the IT zone. It is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi and has the best infrastructure and facilities to contribute to the all-round growth of children covering all facets of education like academics, fine arts, literary and cultural activities, physical education and discipline. 

Jagannath Vidyalaya Matriculation School is a modern school located on the IT Highway, following Matriculation Syllabus. The school is promoted with a noble endeavor to provide wholesome education to the children from LKG to 8 standard. Apart from emphasizing on the academic growth of the students, the school strives to encourage holistic development of the children in all areas.

Royal Midas General Trading LLC is the international business arm of the Sunshine Group. Its current activities include construction and maintenance of commercial and residential buildings in Dubai, UAE and trading in commodities like steel scrap, rice, sugar & other commodities.

Bhavani Distilleries & Chemicals Ltd(BDC), having its registered office in Chennai, has its distillery unit located in T.Pudur Village, Thimiri – Kalavai Road, Kalavai Taluk, Ranipet District, Tamil Nadu, at a distance of about 130 Km from Chennai. Its installed capacity is 44,667 L/day of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) / Rectified Spirit (RS), chemically known as Ethyl Alcohol. 

The installed capacity of the distillery was 30,000 L/day, when the unit was commissioned in 1998. During 2009, considering the severe shortage of RS in Tamil Nadu, the State Government had permitted BDC to expand its capacity to 44,667 L/day of Rectified Spirit. BDC obtained the necessary permission from the government to manufacture either RS or ENA with a total capacity of 44,667 L/day of spirit, to meet the increasing demand for ENA from the liquor industry. The expanded unit which can produce either ENA or RS was commissioned in 2012.

Since there was a very good market for fuel ethanol or anhydrous ethanol, BDC decided to manufacture Anhydrous / Fuel Ethanol from RS.BDC has obtained the necessary permission from the Government to manufacture Anhydrous / Fuel Ethanol also from RS. BDC has now issued a Letter of Intent for the supply, erection & commissioning of Anhydrous / Fuel Ethanol plant.

Meanwhile, India was struck by corona virus in March 2020, forcing the Governments to shut down all commercial activities. At the same time, several incentives are being given to the production of drugs and medical devices & equipment required in large quantities to combat the corona virus. Hand sanitizer is one such item and this is the first line of defence against the corona virus, since washing of hands is the most important step in controlling the spread of the virus. Ethyl alcohol is the main raw material for the hand sanitizer and the Governments are encouraging all distilleries to produce hand sanitizer, giving the necessary permissions immediately. BDC has also obtained the Drug Licence to manufacture hand sanitizer and is ready to start its production.
